The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the anticipated over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Change Follows Mixed Feedback
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified employees about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a more defined direction.
The president noted that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to satisfy community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
The news mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just finished your town hall - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a note, I stated the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most driven and creative designers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to endure.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a clearer identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the feedback to mind and overhauled Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s positioned to deliver on its promise to our players.
The trust in this project grows every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of the team. Following some time of conversations, he comes aboard us on Monday, October 20.
His leadership and background in the competitive gaming space is extensive, having dedicated the recent years creating and managing some of the most well-known titles in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Let’s together in welcoming him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to keep witnessing the progress of the game in the weeks to ahead.

Title Information and Vision
Project Ethos was revealed in last year in conjunction with a early access event. Then, 31st Union presented the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an innovative step forward on the genre."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the game's pitch states. "Face the opponents with unique powers, challenges, and challenges that shift every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Alternatively aim high, gamble everything, and trust your team can earn top ranking? The option is in your hands."
The game has not yet received an announced launch window or platforms, but enthusiasts can look forward to further news as development progresses.
